What to Expect from a Nutrition Consultation
Navigating the world of nutrition can be overwhelming, especially with so much conflicting information. A personalized nutrition consultation can help you cut through the noise and create a clear, tailored plan for achieving your health and wellness goals. Here's what a typical consultation looks like and what you can expect when you work with our Registered Holistic Nutrition Practitioner, Christy De Jaegher.
Optional Free 15-Minute Consultation
Before we dive into the detailed session, I offer an optional free 15-minute consultation. This short call is an opportunity for us to get acquainted. It provides me an opportunity to better understand your specific health concerns and goals, and you an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the process. This initial conversation helps determine if we're a good fit, and if you'd like to proceed with a full consultation.
Pre-Consultation Preparation
If you decide to continue, you'll receive an intake form and a 3-day food log to complete before our session. The intake form collects important information about your health history, dietary habits, various lifestyle factors, and your specific concerns and goals. The food log helps me to understand your current eating patterns, including what you eat, when you eat, and how much.
The Initial 75-Minute Consultation
Our full consultation is where the real work begins. We'll spend about 75 minutes together, reviewing your food log, intake form, diet, supplements/medication, and lifestyle habits. This comprehensive review allows us to identify patterns, challenges, and areas for improvement. During this time, we'll work collaboratively to set small, achievable goals based on your unique needs and preferences.
These goals can cover a range of topics, including:
Nutrition: Recommendations for a balanced diet, nutrient intake, timing of meals/snacks, and food choices.
Lifestyle: Tips for managing stress, improving sleep, integrating exercise, etc.
Supplements: Suggestions for vitamins, minerals and other supplements based on your specific needs.
Post-Consultation Support
Following our session, you will receive an email with a detailed health plan that outlines each of the goals we've discussed. This plan includes personalized recommendations, relevant recipes, handouts, and other resources to support your journey. You'll have a clear roadmap to follow as you work towards your goals.
Follow-Up Sessions
To ensure you're on track and making progress, I typically recommend follow-up sessions every 2-4 weeks. However, the frequency and timing of these sessions are flexible and depend on your individual needs. These follow-ups give us a chance to adjust your plan, answer questions, and celebrate your successes.
